chapter 3
chapter 3:
the footage/the possession
One year after the trip
I was once hesitant on whether or not I should look over the footage. I keeped having nightmares from that day in the woods. Nightmares depicting that man, that strange man. I couldn't even tell if it was a man at all. I still somehow remembered what happened when we were teleported. But I somehow still remembered encountering it, but Chris, Julia, and Donnie didn't remember a thing. Did that thing erase thier memories? Cause I remembered Julia screaming bloody murder when she saw it. I still remember her screaming "what the hell is that?" But she couldn't even remember. I hadn't even thought of that incident since, but just recently I found the camera again in my closet. When I found the camera, it brought back the time I wanted to look at the footage. But I decided to hide the footage for a while because I was so traumatized from the incident. Chris had been trying to call me for days after, I didn't answer. It was better that way. After I found the camera I decided, it was time I looked over the footage. I made myself question 2 things, Question 1, what was in that footage? Question 2, why did that thing let me keep my memory? Did the owner of the camera want me to find it?
When I looked through the files, it turns out there were about 4 videos showcasing a paranormal investigator, who I won't tell you the name. It's better to protect his identity. The first video showcases a introductory as to who he is and why he decided to visit the Pine Barrens. Apparently he heard rumors about the jersey devil being a real entity and he wanted to document and see if the rumors were true. The second video showcased the investigator taking a long mile hike and he decides to tell a story about a time when he was a kid, a man approached him and he was being friendly to him. Some pretty weird shit if you ask me, I too was weirded out. When his mom approached him, the man was nowhere to be seen when the mother asked about who he was talking too. If I didn't know any better, it was probably that thing from the trip back in 2010. The third video took place at nightfall, the investigator explained his plan to capture any paranormal activity while he was asleep, because he kept hearing scratching noises like the finger knives from a nightmare on elm street worn by a that burned man. About a few minutes in, the footage then started blacking out. I couldn't even tell if the blackout was the result of the camera dying. But then I fast forward until I found some more footage. There he was again, the man in the suit. He's just standing there, turning his head as it was looking at the camera. And it was then when I started having that feeling again. But then the footage died again. And I couldn't find anything else in the third video.
The fourth video depicted the man's findings on his camera when he discovered the man in the suit. The investigator said nothing when he saw it. He just stared at the screen and then he started remembering his childhood and the story of the man. I knew right then and there that the man he was talking about in the second video was in fact that thing that attacked me, chris and the others back on our trip. The investigator then noticed that something was wrong and quickly moved his camera to find that the man in the suit had somehow entered his cabin and starts wrecking havoc. The footage starts distorting like crazy, and it appears to only be affected when in the presence of the entity. There's something else at the end of the footage, there were footsteps that slowly approach the camera but the footage stops when whoever was approaching tried picking it up. And that was pretty much the end of all the footage I found. the next day after watching all of the footage, I was strolling through the streets where I had this odd encounter with a man. there was a homeless man acting drunk, he also looked very filthy like he hadn't showered in several years.
"Hey, you have a dollar?" That's usually what homeless people do sometimes, they start asking for money or a place to stay. I ignored him, but deep inside I do feel bad for the man. He asked again "do you have a dollar?" I still ignored him when I walked past him. I arrived at a gas station that was nearby and bought myself something. A Dr. Pepper and some sweet and sour skittles. As I walked out of the store, I was then grabbed by the same homeless guy, but he didn't ask me for money or anything. But I do remember him telling me this "he's coming for you Jason, the man in the suit." I began to panic, but then he let me go, sat down, and continued his behavior. I was completely shook by that, nobody even witnessed it. When I was walking all the way back to my apartment, the feeling came back. I had a strong feeling that the man in the suit was right behind me. I didn't want to look behind me, but when I did, he wasn't there. But somehow that feeling was still there. Then I went back to the apartment and as I opened my door, the man in the suit tried to kill me. But then, my neighbor came out and asked "Hey, what the fuck is going on out here?" I then realized I was having a hallucination, but it was kind of odd. I never had hallucinations and I now feel like I'm no longer safe. I went back inside my apartment and decided to turn in for the night, but I know for a fact that I may not be the only person in danger. It looks like it's time to talk about this to my friends.
